"A Beautifully Written Page Turner."

It’s not everyday that a mother and a daughter decide to write a book together.

But when it comes to creative ideas, Lara Zuehlke and her mother, Jan Zuehlke, Ph.D., never seem to run short. Nearly 20 years ago, the two began brainstorming about writing a novel set in the South inspired by the true-crime events that took place in their hometown of Clifton, Texas in the mid-1980s.

After many years (and many glasses of wine), Lara and Jan released No Motive in Murdoch in early 2018 on Amazon. While the book was going to print (and unbeknownst to them), ProPublica Senior Reporter and New York Times Magazine contributor Pamela Colloff was developing a riveting series, "Blood Will Tell," that explores what happened in Clifton decades ago.
